ISO 55001 · Asset health indexing · Predictive maintenance
Know the condition, risk and true value of every electrical asset you own.
An end-to-end asset management programme for power utilities and electricity-intensive industry. Built on ISO 55001, CIGRE health indexing and on-site diagnostic testing, and delivered by engineers who test the equipment themselves.

The problem
Depreciation tells you what an asset cost. It cannot tell you what it is worth, or how close it is to failing.
Book value is not condition
A 25-year-old transformer can be fully depreciated and still have years of service left, or be one through-fault from failure. Straight-line depreciation cannot tell the two apart.
Calendar maintenance spends in the wrong places
Time-based schedules give a healthy breaker and a failing one the same attention. Crews and shutdown windows go where the calendar says, not where the risk is.
Capex justified on age alone
Replacement plans built on nameplate age are hard to defend before a board or a regulator, and they miss the young assets that are already degrading.
An unplanned failure of a large power transformer means a replacement measured in crores and a lead time measured in months. Knowing which unit is next is worth more than either.
Model it for your fleetThe programme
One programme, from ISO 55001 gap assessment to the investment decision.
Start at any stage. Each one stands on its own and feeds the next, so the asset register, the test results and the health index stay one consistent picture of your fleet.

ISO 55001 gap assessment and maturity baseline
A clause-by-clause gap assessment against ISO 55001:2024 and a maturity score across the IAM's 39 asset management subjects. You get a prioritised roadmap, not a binder.
ISO 55001:2024 · ISO 55002 · IAM AnatomyAsset register and criticality
A clean, CIM-aligned register for every asset class, with each asset ranked by the consequence of its failure on safety, supply, environment and cost.
IEC 61968 / 61970 CIM · criticality matrixCondition assessment campaigns
Shutdown-aligned diagnostics: DGA and oil quality, tan δ and capacitance, SFRA, partial discharge, breaker timing and contact resistance, and thermography, backed by KIGG's NABL-accredited lab.
IEC 60599 · IEC 60076-18 · IEC 60270Asset health index and risk
Health indices built on CIGRE methods, combined with consequence of failure into a risk ranking. Thermal ageing per IEC 60076-7 gives a remaining-life estimate you can audit line by line.
CIGRE TB 858 · TB 761 · IEC 60076-7Online monitoring and digital twin
Online sensing only on the assets that justify it, feeding a substation digital twin with physics-gated anomaly detection. Alerts arrive with a probable cause, not just a threshold breach.
IEC 61850 · IEC 60870-5-104Investment planning and asset valuation
Repair, refurbish or replace decisions ranked by risk reduced per rupee spent. A condition-based view of asset value gives Finance a defensible alternative to straight-line depreciation.
Risk-based capex · lifecycle costISO 55001 certification readiness
A documented asset management system, internal audits and a pre-assessment, so you walk into the certification audit ready. Certification itself is issued by an accredited certification body.
ISO 55001:2024 · internal auditHow it works
Baseline once. Keep the picture current every year.
We baseline
The gap assessment, the register and a first test campaign establish where every asset stands today.
We index and rank
Every asset gets a health index, a probability of failure and a consequence score. The risk ranking shows where the next rupee should go.
We stay on
An annual programme of repeat campaigns, online monitoring where justified and a twin that updates with every test, so the index never goes stale.
Health indexing
Every asset, one defensible number.
Each index is built from measured condition, weighted by asset class and traceable to the test that produced it. Engineering sees what to fix; Finance sees what the fleet is worth.
- Health index from 0 to 100, in five condition bands
- Probability and consequence of failure on one risk matrix
- The dominant driver behind every score, with the evidence
- A recommended action and the year it belongs in the plan

Asset classes
Every asset class in the substation and the plant.
- Power transformers and reactors
- Instrument transformers: CT, PT, CVT
- Circuit breakers
- Gas-insulated switchgear
- Isolators and earth switches
- Surge arresters
- HV and MV cables
- Protection relays and schemes
- Batteries and DC systems
- MV switchgear
- HV and MV motors
- Earthing systems
Instrument transformers are where KIGG started: two decades of building the CT and PT test benches that utilities and manufacturers use to verify them.
Industries
For operators who cannot afford to lose an asset.
Transmission utilities
400, 220 and 132 kV substations, ICTs and line bays. Risk-ranked capex the regulator can follow.
Distribution utilities
33/11 kV substations and distribution transformer fleets, prioritised by health and consequence.
Generation
Generator and station transformers and HV auxiliaries, where an outage means lost generation.
Railway traction
Traction substations from 110 kV to 220 kV, where a transformer outage stops trains.
Steel and aluminium
Rectifier and furnace transformers, potline and mill supplies under continuous heavy duty.
Chlor-alkali and chemicals
Rectifier transformers and HV motors on processes that cannot stop without loss.
Cement and mining
HV motors, MV switchgear and kiln-critical drives in dusty, high-temperature duty.
Data centres
The electrical chain from HV intake to UPS behind every uptime commitment.
Field record
Work in live substations, not slideware.
Health index model for a 400/220 kV substation
Asset health scoring built on CIGRE TB 858 and TB 761, aligned with the utility's own maintenance checklists.
Technical inspection of 40 substations
Condition inspection across 33 substations at 110 kV and 7 at 35 kV.
110/27.5 kV traction substation
Engagement at a railway traction substation, where a transformer outage stops trains.
Why KIGG
Engineers who test, not analysts who guess.
We test the equipment ourselves
KIGG has built relay, energy-meter and CT/PT test equipment for over two decades and runs an NABL-accredited lab. The index rests on measurements we take and can defend.
Every score is auditable
Each index traces to a measurement, a published standard and a weighting your engineers can inspect. No black-box scores.
Engineering and Finance on one page
The model that ranks maintenance also gives Finance a condition-based view of asset value and remaining life.
Deploys inside your network
On-premise or private cloud, behind your OT DMZ, speaking IEC 61850 and IEC 60870-5-104 to the systems you already run.
Start with one substation or one plant.
A fixed-scope ISO 55001 gap assessment and health index baseline on a single site. You see the method on your own assets before you commit to a programme.
